It's a crowded contest for Gold Country's best ice-cream shop, but this cute little spot - the
brilliant second career of avuncular scooper Bob Wright - wins in a walk. Many flavors
are sourced from ripe local produce like the River Hill Red sorbet (sweet red peppers and
strawberry), mint chip and pear ginger.
Ike's Quarter Cafe CAJUN, BREAKFAST

Ike's serves splendid brunch fare with a sassy charm that delights the blue hairs. There's
banana and pecan flapjacks, jambalaya, Creole tempeh and more. It's an excellent place to
get 'Hangtown Fry' - a cornmeal-crusted mess of oysters, bacon, caramelized onions and
spinach. Right out of New Orleans' Garden District but with vegetarian options.
Fix for Foodies CAFE

You can't miss this old stable covered in corrugated steel. A favorite of raw, vegan enthusi-
asts and the generally health obsessed, it's the kind of place that makes its own almond
milk, durian shakes, and sprouted breads.

Mango red curry, steamed mussels and springs rolls are all excellent in the region's best
and most popular Thai restaurant. The interior is furnished with imported carvings and
silk, and the patio seating in back is a busy scene midday. The $10.95 lunch special is a
good value.
