For serious shopping, head to Palm Desert where the elegant El Paseo shopping strip has
been dubbed the 'Rodeo Drive of the Desert'. It's one block south of and parallel to Hwy
111, 14 miles southeast of Palm Springs.

Bargain hunters, make a beeline for dozens of outlet stores: Gap to Gucci, Polo to Prada,
Off 5th to Barneys New York. Wear comfortable shoes - this mall is huge! It's off I-10
(exit at Fields Rd), 20 minutes west of Palm Springs. If you've got energy to spare, the
smaller Cabazon Outlets mall is next door.
Information
High season is October to April, but Palm Springs (elevation 487ft) stays reasonably busy
even in summer, when hotel rates drop and temperatures spike above 100ºF (37ºC).
Between June and August many businesses keep shorter hours or even close, so call ahead
to check.
