Waits can be long and service only so-so, but the farm-to-table menu dazzles with witty in-
ventiveness. Dishes change weekly, but custardy scrambled eggs, arugula pesto frittata and
bacon bar 'flights' keep making appearances.
El Mirasol

There are showier Mexican places around town, but everyone ends up back at El Mirasol,
with its earthy decor, generous margaritas and snappy dishes. The chicken in mole or in
pipián
sauce (made from ground pumpkin seeds and chilis) are menu stars.

A fine case of creative recycling, this former Denny's is now a diner for the 21st century
where the tagliatelle is handmade, the sea bass wild-caught, the beef grass-fed, the veget-
ables organic and the cheeses artisanal. Great breakfast, too.

This mood-lit local fave with indoor koi pond delivers creatively crafted Chinese classics
and has a busy daily happy hour - it's a huge gay scene on Fridays.
