Plate 4.5 (A and B) Blanding's tree or cat snake ( Boiga ( Toxicodryas ) blandingi ). Attaining
considerable body length (occasionally exceeding 3 m), and often sporting an open-mouthed
threat display (Plate 4.5B), this western-sub-Saharan African species is viewed with suspicion by
some authors. Although its Duvernoy's secretions contain a postsynaptic neurotoxin, there are no
verified medically significant bites on record (see Table 4.1 ).

Plate 4.6 Green cat-eyed snake ( Boiga cyanea ), Thailand. Boiga cyanea is a common,
primarily uniform green-colored colubrine species native to the forested zones of northeastern
India, and Indo-China to Thailand. Their preferred prey consists of rodents, lizards, and
nestling birds. Specimens appear relatively frequently in the commercial snake trade. The
few reported bites from this species have included only mild, insignificant local effects (see
Table 4.1 ).
