If you're arriving in the morning, beat the crowds to the New Guǎngdōng Museum (it closes
at 5pm and is closed on Monday) in the southeastern district of Zhūjiāng New Town. Don't
forget to take a peek at the fabulous Guǎngzhōu Opera House close by. That should take
about two hours. Hop on the metro and head west to the Chén Clan Ancestral Hall to spend
an hour, then make a beeline for the stunning Mausoleum of the Nányuè King (it closes at
5.30pm) in the Yuèxiù District. Follow this with a leisurely stroll among the famous land-
marks inside Yuèxiù Park. Depending on time available and interest, you can reverse the or-
der, or replace New Guǎngdōng Museum with a trip to Shāmiàn Island in the southwest.
