In need of some LOL? Hong Kong's first full-time comedy club, founded by Chinese-Amer-
ican Jameson Gong, has stand-up and improv acts in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. It

Besides the tango milongas that take place here some Saturdays, this multipurpose venue is
where amateur musicians hold their debut performances. It also features photography exhib-
itions and the occasional Chinese music performance such as the blindman nányīn (a van-
ishing genre of Cantonese music).

Accessible from the door next to the main entrance of the building, this basement dive fea-
tures bare concrete and indie music performances, and art exhibitions. Opening hours are ir-

This hidden bar and live-music venue has five lanes of sand for playing petanque in its spa-
cious basement. Petanque is a metal-ball-throwing game that men play in the south of
France. Non-players are entertained by live French gigs and performances by Hong Kong's
veteran expatriate bands. If you're taking the bus get off at the stop on Hill Rd and Des
Voeux Rd West.
