AROUND SUZHOU CREEK
Take a look at what remains of the Shanghai Rowing Club across Suzhou Road before turn-
ing back and crossing the Zhapu Road Bridge to the Shanghai Postal Museum 3 [map]
(Shanghai Youzheng Bowuguan; 250 Suzhou Road North; Wed, Thur, Sat, Sun 9am-5pm;
free). Built in 1924 to serve as the main post office for both foreigners and Chinese, the build-
ing is still a functioning post office. The Postal Museum is accessed through an entrance at
the northeast corner of the second floor. The information provided on the history of the
Chinese postal service is interesting enough, but the real treasure is the astounding view of
Shanghai from the museum's roof terrace (open on occasion to the public).
As you stroll along the pedestrian path next to Suzhou Creek, pause and look back at
Suzhou Road for a rare view of the buildings behind the Bund. It's a good vantage point to
