Development Configuration perspective addresses the following tasks:

Import development configurations.
◾
Check out entire DC projects and individual project resources.
◾
Browse contents of components in the central repository and in the local file system.
◾
Create new DC-based projects for different project types like Web Dynpro and Dictionary.
◾
Integrate all DTR activities like creating new activities, assigning changes to activities, dis-
playing activities, checking into the repository, or undoing changes.
◾
Integrate the build and deploy function.
◾
Activate development components.
◾
Display properties of objects like development, configuration, software component, DC,
development object, and activity.
11.2.2.1.2 Design Time Repository (DTR) Perspective
Development configuration perspective is used for resolving version conflicts and DTR repository
administration. The former includes DTR operations like creating new activities, adding changes
to activities, viewing changes, and checking into the repository and operations for solving ver-
sion conflicts, while the later includes activities like managing files within DTR workspaces or
configuring the DTR server. Unlike the DC perspective, the DTR Browser offers a pure file and
directory-based view of the DTR contents.
DTR perspective groups several views:

Repository Browser providing a file and directory-based display of DTR contents
◾
Version Graph displaying the version graphs for the required resources
◾
Integration Conflicts displaying the version conflicts that have occurred during integration
◾
Open Activities displaying a list of all activities that are still open
◾
Closed Activities displaying a list of activities that are already closed
◾
Command output displaying the Output commands for the operations performed by the
users including the failures and error messages, if any
11.2.2.1.3 Dictionary Perspective
Dictionary perspective provides various tools that are required at design time in the Java
Dictionary for platform-independent definition of database objects such as tables and indexes
and global data types. These are essential for developing portable and high-performance database
applications.
Data Type Editor enables the definition of user-defined global data types like
simple
and
structured
data types that contain multiple elements. While defining data types, data char-
acteristics and relevant UI text information can also be recorded along with the data type.
The value ranges of the new data types are derived from the predefined native or built-in data
types that are in sync with the standard JDBC data types. Each data type can also store texts
that can be used as input help, field labels, column headers, or reference information. These
texts are used while displaying the corresponding data type in layout of (say) the Web Dynpro
applications.
