10.4.1 People Integration
People integration ensures that users are empowered to the following:
10.4.1.1 Multichannel Access
Customers are demanding more access and interaction points with their suppliers. In addition
to getting more information from the companies with which they do business, customers are
demanding more ways of interacting with those companies—including mobile phone, e-mail,
Web, and regular mail. SAP Mobile Infrastructure enables members of the enterprise to work
remotely independent of the networks and be able to conduct time-critical business processes in
an offline mode.
SAP Mobile Client, which is installed locally on the client devices, consists of Web server, a
database server along with native business logic. It features a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and
provides an open programming model that developers can use to create mobile applications.
The SAP Mobile Client is used as a runtime environment for mobile applications providing a host
of requisite services like
Data persistence
Data synchronization
Application management
Tracing for monitoring purposes
Configuration (administration of system and user attributes)
Programming models for user interfaces (UIs)
User management
