4.5.4.1 Aptean
4. 5.4.1.1 Ony x
Onyx is a leader in mid-market customer service and support solutions. Onyx was one of the
first vendors to determine portals as the focus of the various components of their CRM offerings.
The portals act as the information aggregators and toolboxes to maximize the efficiency of their
target groups, which include internal users, external customers, and external partners. All portals
employ a common engine that serves to provide data, workflow, and integration capabilities. The
Onyx CRM solution was one of the first enterprise CRM solutions to adopt a flexible, three-tier
architecture, with tight alignment to Microsoft technologies. Onyx is best suited for customers
who want a flexible CRM solution incorporating a BPM capability that also leverages Microsoft
infrastructure technologies.
4.5.4.1.2 Pivotal
Pivotal is the leading visionary in mid-market sales solutions. It is Microsoft based; it executes
well in field sales opportunity management systems and has expanded its solution to include
support for multiple selling channels, as well as enterprises with basic servicing and marketing
requirements.
4.5.4.2 Microsoft Dynamics CRM
Microsoft leverages its desktop applications strength in large enterprises and promotes its now
more robust business applications to this sector. Customer interest in Microsoft Dynamics 4.0
solutions is high in the SMB market and is growing in the enterprise segment. Enterprise custom-
ers that have made a commitment to a Microsoft infrastructure to lower their TCO (total cost of
ownership) are attracted to Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Customers also like Microsoft Dynamics
CRM usability and its quick time-to-value compared with traditional CRM applications. The
product provides basic capabilities in sales, customer service, and field service adequately but is
weaker in marketing and customer data management. On the other hand, sales force automation,
integration, and interoperability across the whole suite of products are very strong. But partner
channel management and e-commerce capabilities are not very strong, and there are no industry-
specific solution sets.
4.5.4.3 FrontRange Solutions (GoldMine)
GoldMine is a leading provider of sales force automation, internal helpdesk, and CRM software
for small- to medium-sized business. Its products provide powerful solutions for managing cus-
tomer life cycles. GoldMine provides affordable, easily deployable solutions to organizations that
do not need expensive and complex systems.
