Arranging the remaining UVs
11. Now that you have a UV layout, go down to the UV/Image Editor's Header bar, click UVs, and
select Export UV Layout at the top of the menu. This will bring up Blender's save menu.
12. On the lower-left corner of the window is a set of options for exporting the UVs. Change the
numbers to 2048 for both the x- and y-axes; this will create a texture that will allow for lots of
detail. Also make sure that the format is set to TIF to allow the UVs to be transparent. If not all
UV faces are selected in the UV/Image Editor, you may need to click the All UVs option as well
to export the whole layout.
13. Name the file something appropriate like Zombie_UVs.tif and choose the file location where you
would like to keep the file. Click the Export UV Layout button to confirm your choice.
14. Save your file. Check C04_Zombie_Finished_UVs.blend at the topic's web page to see what your file
should look like.
You now have a zombie ready for sculpting and texturing. The next section of the chapter will
introduce some tools that can make this process go even faster.
Using Blender's Live Unwrap Functions
Blender has a feature in its UV tools that makes the process of unwrapping a mesh even quicker and
easier than the “old-fashioned” method you just walked through. As with many things, it is important
to understand the more difficult version of the process before learning shortcuts.
