Campgrounds
Within the park, four auto-accessible campgrounds are open May-mid-September, with an-
other just outside the park boundary. Three of these are park operated. Closest to the visit-
ors center (and my favorite) is Robson River Campground (250/566-4811, where numer-
ous trails lead down to the river for the classic upstream view of Mount Robson. It's also
only a short walk to the visitors center and a café. Across the highway is the larger Robson
Meadows Campground (250/566-4811), with 125 sites on a spiral road system that cen-
ters on an outdoor theater that hosts evening interpretive programs throughout the summer.
A number of sites at Robson Meadows can be reserved through www.discovercamping.ca .
Both campgrounds have flush toilets and showers but no hookups; $21 per site.
Beside the east end of Yellowhead Lake (swimming for the brave), 50 kilometers (31
miles) from the visitors center, is the more rustic Lucerne Campground (250/566-4811,
$17 per site). Facilities include drinking water, pit toilets, and picnic tables.
Emperor Ridge Campground (250/566-8438, mid-May-late Sept., $18 per site) is a
small commercial facility right behind the visitors center that offers hot showers but no
hookups.
Robson Shadows Campground, part of Mount Robson Lodge (250/566-4821 or 888/
566-4821, www.mountrobsonlodge.com , May-Oct., $25 per site), is farthest from the vis-
itors center (5 km/3.1 mi west) but has unobstructed views of the distinctive peak, with a
riverside location as a bonus. It also has showers but no hookups.
Information
At the park's western entrance, Mount Robson Visitor Centre (250/566-9174,
www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks , 8am-8pm daily mid-June-mid-Sept., 8am-5pm daily mid-
May-mid-June and mid-Sept.-mid-Oct.) features informative natural-history slide shows,
an evening interpretive program, and trail reports updated daily. The center stocks the bro-
chure Mount Robson Provincial Park, which provides sufficient information if you're only
driving through the park. Hikers and climbers can pick up more detailed trail descriptions
and maps at the center.
