Within this dialog box, both a shortcut key and a description can be set for the chosen macro (in this
case a function macro). For the function created in this chapter, the description shown in Figure 4.10
was typed in the text box in the GUI shown in Figure 4.9. This description will now appear every
time the function is utilized in Excel's Worksheet formula dialog box. Such descriptions are
extremely useful when writing custom functions that will be utilized by numerous members of an
organization.

DYNAMIC FORMATTING OF WORKSHEETS
USING FUNCTIONS
One of the focal points of this text is to take information in, process it, and then present it to a
user in a manner that is useful for whatever type of project is being worked on. The problem
with presenting a user with a report is that the user can change things within the report. In some
instances this may be what is desired, especially if a “what if” scenario needs to be analyzed.
All too often, however, a parameter within a report may be inadvertently changed to a value that
is invalid or outside a reasonable range. In such an instance, it would be useful to automatically
