atively walk through the Winston Churchill Memorial Park to Red Houses
and then onto the Railway Walk before returning to Corbiere.
2. Park at Plemont and walk west along the cliff path towards Grosnez Castle.
If conditions are appropriate there are views towards the other Channel Is-
lands to the north. Sark is the closest but most days others may also be seen
and on exceptional days Alderney may be visible nearly 30 miles to the
north. From Grosnez it is possible to extend the walk beyond the Castle to-
wards the large German bunkers, which dominate the cliffs at Les Landes.
If time and energy allows it is well worth extending the walk as far as the
Pinacle, a large stack, which is the location of some Roman, remains. From
there it is easiest to follow your outward route back to Plemont, before hav-
ing some well-earned refreshments in the café.
3. A short walk around one of the island's reservoirs, always gives a different
perspective to Jersey. There are two main ones, Queens Valley in the east
and Val de la Mare in the west. Both are reasonably short, approximately
1 hour, but there are some good views and for those who are interested a
variety of bird life.
