In-Depth Information
If you are looking for some guided walks there are a number of opportunities with know-
ledgeable local experts. Contact Arthur Lamy on 01534 853525 or Walk in Jersey or Remi
Couriard on 07797768058 or Walking in Jersey .
For something completely different why not go with marine biologist Andrew Syvret for
a walk through Jersey's coastal environment, including night walks to the offshore towers
of the southeast corner of the Island. Contact Andrew on 01534 485201 or through his
website Sea Jersey . Derek Hairon at Jersey Walk Adventures offers a similar programme.
These walks, across the seabed, offer a great way of appreciating Jersey's unique mar-
ine landscape. They are only possible on the larger spring tides when the sea retreats far
enough to expose a significant area of the sea floor.
For a completely different walk why not join Derek on one of his night time walks across
the seabed. As the water retreats the unique coastal landscape of the southeast corner of the
island takes on a completely different perspective. Booking is essential and it is important
to say that people should not undertake such walks unless accompanied by a knowledge-
able local guide
On the Saturday closest to the longest day of the year, the Collas-Crill (formerly ITEX)
Round the Island Walk is held. Just over 48 miles in length it is a major challenge, which
is accepted by hundreds of walkers each year. On the Saturday closest to the shortest day
there is a similar challenge, which is slightly shorter at 44 miles. Not surprisingly far less
people take part in December than they do in June.
Some recommended local walks are:

lade's Bay. There are superb views of some dramatic coastal scenery.
From St Brelade's it is possible to catch a bus back to Corbiere or altern-
