Noirmont Command Bunker : This is a huge German Naval Command Bunker, Batterie
Lotheringen. The bunker has been restored to a very high standard, and there are numerous
displays and exhibits. The extent of the fortifications, across Noirmont is wide ranging and
often takes visitors by surprise. After the Occupation the headland was acquired by the
States of Jersey as memorial to the men and women of Jersey who perished in the Second
World War.
As the people who restored the bunker are volunteers open hours are restricted but it is nor-
mally possible to visit most Sundays between April and September.
There is plenty of free parking and the number 12 and 12A buses pass close by.
Occupation Tapestry Gallery : The Occupation Tapestry was made by a number of res-
idents of the Island to commemorate the 50 th anniversary of the Liberation of Jersey from
the German occupation.
The 12 panels of the Tapestry (one from each Island parish) depict some of the Islanders
personal memories of living through the occupation.
Open from April to October it is open daily and situated at the Maritime Museum on the

Steam, Motor and General Museum : This museum was founded by a well-known local
character, the late Don Pallot, with the aim of preserving some of the Island's heritage.
Today its work is carried on by a Trust.
The emphasis of the exhibits is certainly on all things mechanical with a stream locomotive,
vintage vehicles, tractors etc. There are also a number of photographic exhibits and smaller
items related to the history of Jersey.
The museum is open from 10.00 until 5.00 Monday to Saturday from the beginning of April
until the end of October.
Situated in Rue de Bechet, Trinity, there is plenty of free parking and it is approximately a

Other historic sites.
In addition to the major museums on the island there are a number of other historic sites,
which are well worth a visit. Most have free entry.
Faldouet Dolmen: This dolmen is situated in a field in St Martin and dates from between
4,000 and 3,250 BC (about 6,000 years ago). What is particularly striking about this dol-
men is the size of the capstone. It is thought to weigh about 24 tonnes and is of a rock type
