Proi ling is also a strong feature of Wwise. The ability to mock up every
aspect of the engine's ability brings the toolset further into a full
prototype simulation outside of the game engine. Their commitment
to consistently providing new features and improvements, including a
manageable upgrade strategy at the low level, adds to their adoption at
several publishers and even larger developers over last few years.
Other Middleware of Note
While FMOD and WWise are the most frequently mentioned middleware
apps used in game audio, there are a number of other tools available that

The Fabric toolset from Tazman Audio is yet another example of the
changing dynamics of the game audio market. We've briel y mentioned
the Unity3D game engine as a prominent force in today's game
development world. Although Unity is based around the FMOD engine
and API, there are very few features available to audio professionals to
obtain middleware-like functionality without having to learn code in the
process—as you will soon see in level 11. Fabric was created to address
this situation at a very high and sophisticated level.
