Cute as a
button, this private hotel's most eye-catching feature is its tiny atrium, with slit windows,
oleanders, tea roses, a marble floor and a curved staircase. The seven cosy bedrooms and
equally snug bathrooms are well cared for and comfortable. But low pipe pressure some-
times makes you abandon the idea of taking a shower.

where in Ukraine, it makes a lot of sense to rent a flat in Feodosiya, rather than get
ripped off by hotels. These incredibly helpful people - a Turkish-Latvian couple - oper-
ate three tastefully decorated flats with internet connection and lots of topics. They also
run Crimeatours.com.

Far from the habitual post-Soviet tackiness, this is a nicely designed
and professionally run top-notch hotel with friendly and very attentive staff. The sea
view is complemented by that of Dacha Stamboli. There is an excellent bar-restaurant on
the rooftop terrace.

brownish furniture somehow conspire to give this humble, central hotel, which used to
be the house of Ayvazovsky's sister, a vaguely Art Deco feel. Decent bathrooms too.

Rub shoulders with visiting Russian celebrities in this upmarket hotel that's still quite
affordable for Western tourists. Built in 2001, its rooms are a tiny bit disappointing for
the price, but the swimming pool on the 3rd floor (yes, really) is fantastic and the loca-
tion is good, too.
