Genovese Citadel FORTRESS
Not nearly as spectacular as its Sudak counterpart, and neglected by the authorit-
ies, this is still a beautifully melancholic place where you can get away from the crowds
and check out several medieval Armenian churches scattered around the premises. The
fortress is in the western part of the city known as Quarantine. To reach it, walk to the
end of vul Gorkogo and turn left to vul Portovaya.
Beaches
There is a good stretch of sandy beach east of town, most of it taken over by private es-
tablishments, which provide sunbeds, showers, food and night-time entertainment. To get
here, take mashrutka 4 (4uah) from the downtown bus station.
