#8 Obidos

Rising from an agricultural plain on the top a hill lies the walled village of Obidos, one
of Portugal's most picturesque destinations. From the village, kilometre upon kilometre of
vineyards, windmills, and terracotta homes can be seen across the plains, while inside the
walls a historical centre is lined with cobblestone streets and whitewash houses. The vil-
lage's main street may have given way to tourists with souvenir shops and camera-clicking
guests, however, find your way through the backstreets and you will discover why Obidos is
known as a village 'lost in time'.
