In-Depth Information
quiz: Within Captivate, a quiz is defined as all of the questions and
click boxes in a single movie. You can exclude any of the questions
or click boxes from the quiz as needed.
recording: In Captivate, recording is the process of capturing screens
and storing audio and mouse movement elements for use in Capti-
vate projects.
resolution (screen): Screen resolution is the number of pixels that can
be displayed on a monitor, expressed as the number of horizontal
pixels times the number of vertical pixels. For example, a standard
screen size might be 1024 x 768.
scoring: The mechanism of determining how well a student does on a
quiz. You can keep track of the number of questions the viewer
gets right, or you can attach relative weights (or importance fac-
tors) to each question. You can also calculate a score and integrate
it into an LMS.
SCORM: Sharable Content Object Reference Model is a specification
created by the Advanced Distance Learning group and the United
States Department of Defense to standardize the transfer of infor-
mation between learning management systems. For more
information on SCORM, see http://www.adlnet.org/.
storyboard: A storyboard is a planning device for movies that consists
of a rough representation of both the visual and audio components,
usually in paper format.
transition: In Captivate, a transition is the way a movie changes from
one slide to the next.
transparency: The percentage of the background behind an image that
shows through the image. A high transparency means that a lot of
the background shows through the image, and 100% transparent
means the image is invisible. A low transparency means that the
image is quite dense, and very little of the background shows
through.
weighting: A mechanism that attaches more importance to some quiz
elements than others when calculating the final score. For exam-
ple, introductory questions may be worth less than advanced
questions. The advanced questions would have a higher weight.
WMF: Windows Metafile graphic format.
