just three blocks from Sunset Beach and English Bay. Each welcoming unit has a full kit-
chen, balcony, large screen TV, free wireless Internet, and a super-comfortable bed. Other
pluses include free local calls, free parking, a light breakfast served daily in the lobby, a
laundry, and a fitness room. The more expensive units have separate bedrooms.
The best reason to stay at the contemporary Century Plaza Hotel & Spa (1015 Burrard
St., 604/687-0575 or 800/663-1818, www.century-plaza.com , $250-600 s or d) is the Abso-
lute Spa, a favorite haunt of movie stars in Vancouver on location. Each of the 236 kitchen-
equipped rooms is comfortable, but not as opulent as the spa facility. Other amenities in-
clude a café, a restaurant specializing in seafood and local produce, and lounge. Decent
weekly rates and spa packages are also available.
Granville Island Hotel (1253 Johnston St., 604/683-7373 or 800/663-1840,
www.granvilleislandhotel.com , $275 s or d) enjoys a fabulous location on the island of the
same name immediately south of downtown. The hotel is designed to attract a young, hip
clientele. Contemporary and elegant, the rooms are spacious and furnished with Persian
rugs, marble-floored bathrooms, and modern necessities.
Delta Hotels and Resorts, Canada's largest chain of upscale hotels, has two downtown
Vancouver properties, including Delta Vancouver Suites (550 W. Hastings St., 604/
689-8188 or 888/663-8811, www.deltahotels.com , $299 s or d), in the heart of downtown.
None of the 225 “suites” is equipped with a kitchen, but each is spacious and has a separate
bedroom and comfortable lounge area. Other guest facilities include a health club, indoor
pool, saunas and a whirlpool, and a street-level New York-style restaurant open for break-
fast, lunch, and dinner.

Generally regarded as one of the world's hippest hotels and last renovated in 2013, the

mega-cool place to stay. This means vibrant colors, striking decor, clean-lined furnishings,
250-count linens, 27-inch flat-screen TVs, iPads, luxurious bathrooms filled with top-notch
bath products, valet-only parking, and upscale dining and drinking off the brightly minim-
alist lobby. Rooms are decorated in distinct themes and come in a variety of configurations,
including one daring layout with the bathroom on the floor-to-ceiling windowed outer wall.
