In-Depth Information
$150-200
With the exception of the first two recommendations, most accommodations in this price
range are scattered between the central business district and Granville Island.
Least expensive of the central business district hotels is Days Inn Vancouver Down-
town (921 W. Pender St., 604/681-4335 or 877/681-4335, www.daysinnvancouver.com ,
$160-200 s or d). The 85 rooms are small, and surrounding high-rises block any views. But
each room is decorated in bright and breezy pastel colors, wireless Internet is free, and cof-
feemakers are provided; there's also an in-house restaurant and valet parking.
Although guest facilities at Ramada Inn & Suites Downtown Vancouver (435 W.
Pender St., 604/488-1088 or 888/389-5888, www.ramadadowntownvancouver.com , $199 s
or d) are limited compared to other properties in this price category, like the Days Inn, its
location is central. As an old hotel, its 80 rooms are small, but they are well appointed and
come with everything from hair dryers to free wireless Internet. Parking is a reasonable $15
per day extra.
Sandman Hotels is a western Canadian chain of over 30 properties, including the
flagship Sandman Vancouver City Centre (180 W. Georgia St., 604/681-2211 or 800/
726-3626, www.sandmanhotels.ca , $199 s or d). This hotel features more than 300 rooms
(including 87 self-contained suites in the Corporate Tower), an indoor pool, health club,
lounge, and a 24-hour family restaurant. For older travelers, Sandman's 55Plus program is
worth noting: Sign up over the Internet (free) for a variety of benefits, including discounts
at all Sandman properties.
Quality Hotel Downtown Vancouver (1335 Howe St., 604/682-0229 or 800/663-8474,
www.qualityhotelvancouver.com , from $199 s or d), also known as the Inn at False Creek,
overlooks False Creek, a good 10-minute walk from the central business district. It features
a subtle Santa Fe-style decor, including a main lobby decorated with rugs, pottery, and a
huge fireplace. Facilities include a heated outdoor pool, restaurant, lounge, and free wire-
less Internet. Rooms are elegantly furnished but not particularly large. The one-bedroom
suites, each with a full kitchen, are good value at $249 s or d.
Two blocks closer to downtown is the seven-story, 245-room Holiday Inn Hotel and
Suites (1110 Howe St., 604/684-2151 or 800/663-9151,
www.holidayinnvancouverdowntown.com , $199-600 s or d), featuring an indoor pool, day
spa, a kids' play room, a lounge, a café with market-style dishes to go, and a restaurant.
Last renovated in 2012, guest rooms come in a variety of configurations, but all are well
equipped, and as at Holiday Inns the world over, children stay and eat free.
