HISTORY
Theearlyhistoryofthisregionisasturbulent asthemightyNiagara River.Forhundredsof
years, a tribe of Indians known as the Neutrals hunted and farmed this area on both sides of
theriver.Inanefforttoincreasetheirshareofthebeaverpelttrade,membersoftheIroquois
Confederacy overpowered the Neutrals and took control of the region in the 1650s.
