wall. It was here in September 1763 that more than 100 British soldiers and civilians were
killed during a Native American ambush meant to sever the settlers' portage route around
the falls.
The park is primarily a starting point for hikers and others who descend the 400 stairs
down the gorge to enjoy the view of the rapids and power plant, or try their luck at fishing
for trout and salmon. There is ample parking and several tables with grills for picnicking.
