These I happily recommend:
Visitor / Tourism Centres
You will see them in virtually every good-sized town and every time you cross a border.
STOP! They will have free local maps and brochures and coupons. The people who staff
these are locals so they are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their hometowns and sur-
rounding areas. They know where the best places are and how to get there.

Traveler's Guide to Alaskan Camping
Mike and Terri Church, Rolling Homes Press
http://www.rollinghomes.com
A comprehensive guide to the campgrounds of northern BC, Alaska, Yukon and Northwest
Territories.
The Milepost
Morris Communications, www.themilepost.com
The legendary milepost-by-milepost guide to traveling to, from and through Alaska, the
Yukon and Northwest Territories. An updated issue is published every April. Includes list-
ings for lodging and camping.
A caveat worth mentioning, however, is that the private businesses listed are all advertisers
and write their own listings. That said, the cinnamon rolls at Braeburn Lodge that are repor-
ted to feed four? They really do.
Help Along the Way
Call 907-562-6449 to have a copy of “ Help Along the Way ” mailed to you. This little
booklet, produced by Emergency Services in Alaska identifies the mile markers where you
