Housekeeping
Don't let yourself run out of water/propane or overfill your sani tanks because that is when
you'll have trouble finding a place to do your housekeeping.
Water
We like to top up our water every morning so that we know we are ready to boondock if a
good opportunity presents itself. Drinking water can usually be refilled at provincial /state
parks, city/town parks, service stations, commercial RV parks and if you are stuck, Visitor
Centers.
Tip: make sure the water outlet is labelled as “drinking” or “potable” water. Then taste it
before you fill your tanks. Water can sometimes be safe to drink but still taste or smell really
bad. In those cases you may want to take a chance on waiting till your next stop to refill your
tank. We always keep some bottled water stowed away for emergencies.
Propane
This does not need to be done very often but when it does virtually every town will have
at least one service station that refills propane tanks. Look for the big white tanks set apart
from the other pumps and buildings.
Sani Dump
Commercial RV parks virtually always have a dump station. Even if you are not staying
there you can ask to dump (for a fee). State and provincial parks often have a dump station.
Some service stations do and small towns usually have a place designated for this. Check at
the Visitor's Center or ask at the service station.
Showers

off the back of the van - great when the weather is warm. Not so much so when the weather
cools. When that happens we've discovered that we can stop into a commercial RV park and
just ask to use their showers. Many parks have coin-operated hot showers where you are
welcome to use as much hot water as you want - as low as $1 for 3-5 minutes.
