ber Company. Continue 150 feet past the confluence of the West Fork and Limekiln
Creek to a junction with the Limekiln Falls Trail (0.25 mile, 110') on your right.
A diverse array of fungi live within the damp, dark, dense redwood forests that shade
Limekiln Creek.
Skirting the west bank of the West Fork, the main trail continues straight, turns
north, then crosses the creek on a wooden bridge (0.3 mile, 170'). A minute farther a
split rail fence marks the site of the large stone-and-steel kilns (0.4 mile, 240'), built
at the base of a natural limestone deposit. Take a moment to explore the ruins before
returning the way you came. Please don't hike off-trail, as canyon walls are steep,
poison oak is abundant, and the kilns may be unstable.
