This means that the set can be rendered once and used as
a static background for the shot. Only the characters are
rendered for each frame. In Figure 15.10, you can see the
fi nal composited frame. The nodes network for building
this is found in Figure 15.11.

The upper input node, called characters , holds the char-
acters themselves. The lower input node does not refer
to anything in the scene but is instead an Image node.
The image used in this node was created by rendering
the shot without the characters and saving the result in
