In-Depth Information
FIGURE 2.8 Shelter secured! In Easy and Normal difficulty levels, zombies still try to
break down your door, and you even see some worrying cracks appear. Don't panic! Zom-
bies give up before they break through.
Caution: Close the Door While You're Gone!
Always remember to close the door when you leave your shelter. Leav-
ing it open is like leaving out the welcome mat for mobs, and you don't
find want to find any lurking inside when you return.
Tip: Airlocks, Iron Doors, and More
In the Hard difficulty level, zombies can break through wooden doors. Give your-
self a better chance of survival by building airlock structures using two doors in-
stead of just one. If a zombie breaks through the first door, it will take him some
time to break through the second. Hopefully, creepers aren't lined up behind. Iron
doors are impervious to their attack but can only be opened with buttons or oth-
er redstone devices. Perimeter structures such as fences, moats, and lava pits also
keep mobs away. See the section, “ Protecting Your Perimeter , ” on page 153 in
Chapter 8 for a few examples.
