have a third type of protection: greenhouses,
tunnels and floating covers.
In the case of floating covers, also
known as direct covers and floating mul-
ches ('baches' in the French literature), the
protection directly rests over the plants,
without any kind of a supporting structure
(Photo 1.3).
Low tunnels are tunnels normally up to
1 m in height (Photo 1.4). High tunnels or
macro-tunnels are high enough to allow
workers to walk inside them, and for the
cultivation of species of a similar height
