Figure 5.15 Use the Zoom tool to fit a group of clips in the Timeline.
Changing the clip appearance
The Clip Appearance panel, which you access via the switch located next to the Zoom slider, can change how
clips display inside the Timeline. This is similar to the Clip Appearance panel found in the Event Browser, and
you can specify how clips are presented by selecting one of six display options. These allow you to view more
of the video image in the clips or more of the blue audio waveforms. The height of the clips also can be in-
creased or decreased using the slider. If you're using a laptop and you're short on screen space, you can hide the
video and audio completely and view the clips as thin blue blocks by selecting the last option on the far right of
the panel (see Figure 5.16).
Connected clips and Storylines are attached to the Primary Storyline via small connection links, and these can
be shown or hidden using the Show Connections check box. Hiding these connections can really clean up the
Timeline window if you have a lot of Connected clips in your Project, but even with this check box disabled,
you can still view a clip's connection link by selecting the clip in the Timeline. You also can choose to display
either the clip names or role names from the pop-up menu.
