The new view is not a partial view; it is a full view. Because the new view is an
orthographic projection, all of the geometry is included.
Creating a Sketch in the Drawing View
There are many uses for creating sketches in a drawing view. In this case, you
need to create geometry to modify the drawing view:
1. Verify that the 2013 Essentials project file is active, and then open
c06-02.idw from the Drawings\Chapter6 folder.
2. When you hover over the bottom-left view, the boundary will high-
light. When the view highlights, click the view, and then select
Create Sketch from the Sketch panel on the Place Views tab.
3. When the Sketch tab appears, draw a spline in the view similar to the
one in Figure 6.3.
FIGURE 6.3 Define a sketch in the drawing
view to make changes to the view.
4. After the loop of the spline is closed, right-click and select Finish
Sketch on the marking menu to finish the sketch.
It is important to verify that the sketch is associated with the
drawing view.
5. To verify association, drag the drawing view, and make sure the
sketch moves with it.
If the sketch is not attached to the drawing view, delete the sketch you made,
and go through the steps again to make sure that the view is highlighted when
you start the Create Sketch tool.
