In-Depth Information
ideas start off as loose sketches.
When Microsoft was about to launch PowerPoint 10, the company approached
Duarte Design to build a presentation that would come installed with the application.
Not only would users be able to deconstruct the file and learn the new features, but
they would also see how Duarte combined features to create powerful effects.
The first step Duarte took was to learn all the new features and the limits of the
application, then write a script that could showcase those features well. After the
script was approved, the artist created an enormous amount of loosely sketched
ideas. These loose sketches are what make or break a project. He sketched out
several ideas for each sentence in the script. Then he culled the ideas down into
scenes and sketched the final scenes into a storyboard.
Anyone can create loose sketches. They are small visual representations of ideas.
Because they are loosely drawn, you can create many of them quickly. If you look
below, even the storyboard lacks detail but it clearly conveys the meaning for what
needs to be communicated.
