However, if you want to track downloads (that is, download links) as actions, you can
do this either directly within the link or as an on-click wrapper function. You'll learn
more about action tracking and download extensions in the sections that follow.

Tracking Exit Links
tracking exit links is, in nature and tracking technology, very similar to tracking
downloads. Yahoo! Web analytics attaches itself to all links. if a link outside of the
domain structure is clicked, it is registered as an exit link.
this is one of the advantages of page tagging versus log file analysis, as all exit
links are tracked. You are in control of when something is to be registered as an exit link.
the ability to track exit links is provided out of the box, and you need not do
anything else but install the plain-vanilla tracking code.
the simplest results of an exit link tracking report look like Figure 2.3.
