In-Depth Information
We eventually arrived into Kissidougou and were warmly welcomed by the rector
oftheCatholic mission.Afterwashingup,wehaddinnerwithAbbéComoandchattedun-
til it was late.
I woke up to the sounds of the birds and after saying my morning prayers, I went to
visit the church. Abbé Como said a special mass just for me. It was one of the most emo-
tionally and spiritually uplifting moments in my life…I was so moved by the service and
by his kindness.
After mass, breakfast and visiting the bank, we departed. The road was excellent
and almost void of traffic. It was great to see that many parts of the road were under main-
tenance. Erik and I cycled side by side and talked and laughed a lot. We cycled by pine-
apple groves and fields of cocoa and coffee plants. The weather was absolutely perfect for
cycling. We stopped in Yinde-Millinou for lunch. The area was quite mountainous (over
1000 m), and were not too far from the Sierra Leone border. I had my picture taken sur-
rounded by children with the mountains in the back.
