Booting: Vector Error Occurs When Booting from Flash Memory
Possible Problem
Solution
Compressed
system image
1.
Power-cycle the router.
2.
Within the first 60 seconds of booting, press the Break key
to access the ROM monitor.
3.
At the ROM monitor prompt (>), enter
o/r
to set the
configuration register to boot from ROM.
4.
Enter
b
to boot the router. The router enters setup mode.
5.
Press
Ctrl-C
to bypass the setup.
6.
Enter the
configure memory
privileged exec command.
7.
Obtain an uncompressed system image. From the router
prompt, use the privileged exec command
copy flash tftp
to
send the compressed image back to the TFTP

server.
Decompress the image at the TFTP server. This cannot be done
at the router.
Use the
copy tftp flash
privileged exec command at the
router to retrieve the uncompressed image. The following is
an example of the use of the
copy tftp flash
command:
