A stepped approach through ACR
This being a book primarily intended for black and white conversions, we
presume a certain aptitude for adjusting the tonality and composition of an
image; however, ACR being a relatively concise application, and one that's
certain to be new to many of you, we want to take you through an easy,
stepped approach from end to end.
Although workl ows vary, ACR is constructed with an array of tools that
are logically ordered; our prescribed approach is easy to remember, as it
steps through the tools and controls in the same order that you i nd them
presented to you.
Opening i les in ACR
One of the most common questions surrounding ACR is “How do I get there?”
From Photoshop
Photoshop will automatically open raw i les in ACR, however if you'd like
to use Adobe Camera Raw to open your JPEG i les, you must i rst do the
following:
1. From within Photoshop, navigate to Photoshop (Menu) . Preferences . File
Handling
2. From within the Preferences dialog, check the box “Prefer Adobe Camera
Raw for JPEG Files”
From Bridge CS4
Although Photoshop will automatically open raw i les from Bridge in ACR,
choosing to open JPEGs and TIFFs requires i rst:
