10.6.10 Synthesis of Phosphor Nanoparticles
This is one of the most attractive topics in nanotechnology owing to the device fabri-
cation and bioimaging (medical use) capabilities of phosphor nanoparticles. There
are several phosphor nanoparticles prepared under near-critical to supercritical
hydrothermal conditions. Among them, the most common ones are rare earth vana-
dates (RVO 4 :Nd 3 1 , RVO 4 :Eu 3 1 ), rare earth phosphates (LaPO 4 :Nd 3 1 ,LaPO 4 :Eu 3 1 ,
LaPO 4 :Er 3 1 ), rare earth
doped garnets (YAG:Eu 3 1 , YAG:Nd 3 1 , YAG:Ce 3 1 ), rare
doped perovskite-based compounds (YAlO 3 :Eu 3 1 , YAlO 3 :Er 3 1 ), and rare
earth oxides (Lu 2 O 3 :Eu 3 1 ,Y 2 O 3 :Eu 3 1 ,Y 2 O 3 :Er 3 1 ,R x Lu 2 2 x O 3 :Eu 3 1 , where R 5 Y,

light-emitting diode varies. Here we discuss the synthesis of only some selected
