double-Click to finish
In step 9 of Exercise 2.4, you double-clicked to complete the task of drawing a
rectangle. This might seem strange, especially if you've come from an AutoCAD
background. Get used to it. In InfraWorks the act of double-clicking to complete
a drawing command is common.
10. You will be returned to the Model Properties dialog. Click OK.
After a pause, the visible area of the model will update. The model
will now occupy a smaller area, and you may notice an improvement
in the performance of InfraWorks as you navigate the model.
You can view the results of successfully completing this exercise by
choosing the Ex_2_4_End proposal.
Managing surface Layers
Surface layers are features that conform directly to the ground. They include
the terrain itself along with ground imagery, coverages (which you'll learn more
about later in this topic), roads, railways, and others. InfraWorks distinguishes
these data types from the rest in two ways. First, in the Model Explorer panel, it
organizes these features (with the exception of terrain) into their own category,
as shown in FigureĀ 2.20. This gives you the ability to lock and unlock these fea-
tures, highlight them, or create subsets. You'll learn more about Model Explorer
later in the topic.
