In-Depth Information
now You know
In the first three chapters, you learned how to build the major components of your model such
as existing conditions, roads, buildings, and coverages. In this chapter you focused on the more
detailed aspects of your model. You learned about critical design elements such as points of
interest, barriers, water features, and pipelines, and you learned about more aesthetic ele-
ments such as trees and city furniture. You now know the procedure for creating these objects,
and you understand their behavior once inserted in the drawing and when edited. You know
the gizmos and properties that are most useful in modifying these items so that they can best
suit your purposes. Now that you've completed this chapter, you know how to liven up your
model with points of interest, trees, water features, barriers, pipelines, and city furniture.
Depending on your background, you may think this chapter is somehow less important than the
previous ones because it deals more with the aesthetics and fine details of your model. Keep
in mind that InfraWorks is as much a presentation tool as it is a design tool. When you present
your InfraWorks model to an audience, you want them to be immersed in it, to almost live it,
so they can truly understand what your ideas will be like if and when they become reality. The
major design items are important, but they are rather uninteresting without some detail to
bring them to life and to make them appear as though they're already functioning with their
intended purpose. Consider these things when creating your next InfraWorks model.
