exercise 4.6: edit Pipelines and Pipeline
Connectors
In this exercise you will adjust the rotation and location of two of the inlets so that
they align with the curb. You will also adjust their elevations so that they match
the design elevation of the road. You will then edit the outfall at the pond so that
it is closer to the edge of the water and at an elevation just above the water level.
If you are continuing from the previous exercise, you can skip to step 3.
Otherwise, if you haven't already done so, go to the topic's web page at www
.sybex.com/go/infraworksessentials and download the files for Chapter 4.
Unzip the files to the correct location on your hard drive according to the
instructions in the introduction.
1. If it is not already open, launch InfraWorks.
2. On the Start Page, click Open and browse to C:\InfraWorks Essentials\
Chapter 04\ . Click Ch04 Bimsville Bypass.sqlite and click Open.
3. Select the Ex_4_6 proposal.
You should see the model as it would appear at the end of Exercise 4.5
with the inlets and pipes added.
4. Restore the Industrial Park bookmark. InfraWorks will zoom to an
area overlooking the industrial park.
5. Zoom in to the two inlets closest to the pond. Hold down the Ctrl key
and click both of them.
6. If the Properties panel is not open, right-click and select Properties.
7. In the Properties panel, verify that the Auto Update box is checked.
Click it if it is not checked.
8. For Orientation, enter 90 .
The inlets should orient themselves parallel to the curb.
9. For Height, enter -8 (-2.5) .
The depth of the inlets will change so that they now project down-
ward roughly 8 feet (2.5 meters).
10. Press Esc to clear the selection. Click one of the inlets to select it.
11. Use the square on the move gizmo to position the inlet against the
curb, as shown in FigureĀ 4.36.
