The Embedded
Profile Mismatch warning
dialog box with the default
radio button set to
Convert
document's colors to the
working space
. Clicking
the
OK
button would
produce a color space
conversion from
ColorMatch RGB to Adobe
RGB (1998).
Color Management Policy Set to Convert to Working Space
Opening Documents
This setting provides an option whereby the cur-
rently configured working space takes precedent. When the warning
check boxes are applied and the document doesn't match the preferred
working space, the default option in the
Embedded Profile Mismatch
dialog
is to convert to the working space (see Fig. 2-15). This option allows
Photoshop to convert the data from the original color space into the cur-
rently configured, preferred working space. If I opened a document in
ColorMatch RGB but my preferred RGB working space was Adobe RGB
(1998), the
Embedded Profile Mismatch
dialog warning appears. The default
radio button is set to convert into the working space. This would produce
a conversion from ColorMatch RGB to Adobe RGB (1998). In this case,
this may not be a useful conversion (see the sidebar, “Convert or
Preserve?”).
When the Profile Mismatch dialog appears, the middle radio button
Convert documents colors to the working space
is the default. All I have to do
is click the Enter key and the document will be converted to the pre-
ferred working space. If the
Profile Mismatches
warning check box is off,
there is no dialog presented and a conversion automatically is carried out.
This makes the Convert policy more dangerous since a conversion will
take place without the user being told. In a work flow environment
where a user may wish to automatically convert many documents into
the preferred working space, turning off the warnings and setting the
policy to
Convert
could be useful.
Copying and Pasting Data
The behavior is the same as using the
Preserve policy just discussed.
