In-Depth Information
From the first blade in production in April 2006 to the biggest
player in China's market in 2010, Zhongfu Lianzhong spent less
than five years. In the view of Zhang Dingjin, what is more valuable
than the title of “China's market share no. 1” is how it opens
markets in Japan, India and, the United Kingdom, etc. with its high
quality of blade manufacturing.

To conclude, I find mainly two reasons for Zhongfu Lianzhong's
success:
First, open R&D in technologies. Zhongfu Lianzhong started
manufacturing blades for 1.5 MW wind turbines. Blades have
high requirements of performance of materials and under some
circumstances, the features of materials have become technical
barriers for blades manufacturing. “If Zhongfu Lianzhong entered
into blade manufacturing, at least they would have advantages
in such features with the company's years of experience in
composite materials” Zhang Dingjin saw this business opportunity.
What is the second reason of Lianzhong's success?
One day in March 2005, Wang Wenqi and Lu Zhunli, senior
experts in China's wind power, came to Zhang Dingjin and asked
him to introduce blade manufacturing technology from Germany's
independent blade manufacturer NOI, in order to support the
domestic manufacturing of blades for 1.5 MW wind turbines.
Zhongfu Lianzhong completed all matters relating to technology
introduction in China for NOI's 1.5 MW blades manufacturing in
mid-June and started manufacturing the first on 16 April before
mass production in half a year later, thus becoming the first
enterprise to produce 1.5 MW blades.
