how Wu Gang set up the philosophy of “Create Value for Customers”
for Goldwind.
Truly, to achieve the philosophy of “Create Value for Customers”,
Goldwind undertook national science and technology projects
such as “Program No. 863”, “600 kW WTGs Industrialisation
Technology”, “750 kW WTGs Research” and “MW-scale WTGs and
Key Components Research”. All of these programs have proven that
the philosophy could withstand tests.

Goldwind's Challenge
Looking at the development of Goldwind over recent years, Wu
Gang once said “all these years, market and competition environment
is changing, so Goldwind keeps adapting with strategy adjustment
too”. However, the core philosophy has remained.
In order to better create value for customers, Goldwind had
experienced two transformations, with the first starting from MW-
scale research, on the project of national “Program No. 863” in
the subject of sustainable energy. At first, Goldwind's target was
to make MW active stall-geared wind turbines, but after concept
designs, load calculations, etc., they changed for a better direction
of making other models. Then they received news from overseas
about direct-driven permanent magnet wind turbine without the
parts of high speed rotation and with synchronous connection to
the grid
electronic components. At that time, power and
electronic technology of big capacity was still immature. This
challenge, they believed, with the rapid development in electronic
technology, can be dealt with, especially with flexible and fast
responding
via
electronic
devices
replacing
complex
mechanic
structures as the new trend.
At that time overseas research on direct-driven permanent
magnet wind turbines was at a very early stage, with no sophisticated
prototype to follow, which in turn consolidated the research
direction of Goldwind. The choice of Goldwind to use direct-driven
permanent magnet systems won recognition and approval from
relevant national authorities and experts, and seriously shifted
the MW-level technology design from active stall-geared wind
turbines to direct-driven permanent magnet. This technology was
jointly developed by Goldwind and Germany's Vensys, starting
