The Danish energy plan from 1990, “Energi 2000” with the
subtitle “Action Plan for a Sustainable Development”, was
inspired by the Brundtland report and introduced new
ambitious goals for the use of wind energy.
Inspired by the UN Brundtland Report from 1987 and its focus
on sustainable development, the new plan had an ambitious goal
of a 20% reduction of Danish CO
emissions by 2005. To reach this
goal, the plan adopted recommendations of the Brundtland report
on reduction of the total energy consumption. So whereas the two
previous plans envisaged future growth, the new plan headed for
an energy reduction of 15% by 2005 and drafted three scenarios for
2030 with a reduction of 20-40% from the 1988 level. For CO

scenarios for 2030 would give a reduction of 38-65%

The plan did not include the transport sector. Here, less ambitious goals with
stabilization on 1988 level in 2005 and 25% reduction in 2030 for both energy
and CO
were included in a separate plan in May 1990.
