SAFE TUNNEL project
The
SAFE TUNNEL project had the aim of making the vehicle, the
infrastructure and tunnel management interact by connecting them together to aid
operating tunnel safety. This project enabled interactive demonstrators to be
developed in particular allowing the study of access to the tunnel in the approach
zone, the remote control of the vehicle or also the control of speed and distance
between two vehicles in the tunnel (Figure 6.24).

6.12. Conclusion
In this chapter we have attempted to give a progress report on the place of ICT
in mass transport of the future, both for people (buses) and goods (trucks). We
addressed both the issue of single vehicles, or vehicle fleet, in view of increasing
