6.10.2. HMI perspective
In relation to the users identified in the system perspective, it is important to deal
with the user aspect as soon as possible, by designing and implementating
appropriate human-machine interfaces: as observed, the active users (requestors -
beneficiaries of the system), passive users (subjected to the system), the deciders
(regulation command center) and all the users via vertical and horizontal signaling
must receive useful information to act appropriately. It is essential that this
information and these actions occur in accordance with the work context and the
corresponding requirements:
- in the vehicle compatibility with the double task - driving and managing, in a
regulation work station for example, it is efficiency which dominates;
- when information is displayed outside, it has to be compatible with
meteorological constraints of visibility - legibility.
The design of these HMI therefore also constitutes an important part of the
system and conditions its acceptability. The approaches described in Chapter 11
dealing with the adaptation of HMI (plasticity approach), or again in Chapter 3 with
the personalization of information are to be taken into account.
6.11. Examples of initiatives and projects in direct or indirect link with the e-
Truck and e-Bus concepts
In order to show that the work described previously corresponds to more general
concerns, which are considered worldwide to be very important, we relate a number
of these projects, in particular those in which Renault Trucks is involved.
6.11.1. LUTB and i-Trans competitiveness clusters
The competitiveness cluster LUTB [LUT] was created in 2006. It aims to meet
the challenges raised by the increase in the needs of mobility, people and goods in
an urban environment. Its objective is to associate the world of research with that of
business in line with this aim. The structure is based on five research and
development programs, as follows:
- motorization and driveline: consists of developing a high performance, silent,
reliable propulsion engine respectful of the environment, for different urban
applications and hybrid motorizations;
- integrated safety and security: improve the safety of users and increase the
security of people and goods transport;
