The augmented environment must be able to ensure these information exchanges
by capillarity (as in the blood network). The issues of this project can be
reformulated in the following way:
- offer an urban freight transportation support, by providing delivery assistance,
in the form of an information system used by different mobile or static, active or
passive participants;
- identify the participants involved (responsible for the organization of the
delivery areas and traffic in town, logisticians preparing the routes for delivery,
drivers, etc.);
- transpose the principle of the computerized management of rooms to the
reservation of delivery areas;
- carry out a delivery area reservation, then dynamically modify in the event of a
delay, or take place immediately if the delivery area has not been reserved for the
upcoming period;
- also study different approaches leading to a greater or lesser on-site provision
of reservation information: an information panel in front of the delivery area or the
display of this information only on the mobile device (PDA, mobile telephone) of
the participant involved;
- have a maximum of features to increase the efficient and appropriate use of
delivery areas while respecting the traffic constraints (parking for as short a time as
possible by authorized users only). In particular, the idea is to avoid private
individual car parking;
- identify the medium and the interaction (PDA, Smartphone, etc.) to access
relevant, therefore contextualized, information by choosing the presentation form
appropriate for each user.
We can characterize the targeted objectives in the following manner:
- identify all the participants: transport users, management of town traffic,
delivery customer, transport logistician, transporter, deliverer, traffic operator and
associate them with authorized operations from two main categories: (1) to be
informed, for the passive participants and (2) to take action, for the active
participants; it is also a matter of identifying the types of information to be handled;
- use the fixed interaction devices sooner for the managers (logisticians) and
new mobile devices (telephone, PDA, Tablet PC) for the transporters-deliverers and
traffic operator (policeman being able to give a fine in the event of illegal parking);
