Why use Adobe Bridge
Bridge can help you locate files in less time when you need them. You can also preview your images
quickly and find information such as the date the image was created, modified, and more. In this lesson,
you will work in Adobe Bridge, create metadata templates, and discover other time-saving search fea-
tures.
Bridge as a file browser
You can choose to use Adobe Bridge as a replacement for your own directory system. By selecting File >
Browse in Bridge from most of the Adobe applications, you can navigate and preview your files before open-
ing them in the application of your choice.
Sometimes, double-clicking to open a file in Adobe Bridge might open it in a different application than ex-
pected. This can happen if you are working in generic file formats such as .jpg, .png .or gif. To avoid this
problem, you can right-click (Windows) or Ctrl+click (Mac OS) the image, and choose Open With to select
the appropriate application.
Changing the view of Adobe Bridge
In this section, you'll adjust the workspace in Adobe Bridge to customize it to fit your needs. Changing
Adobe Bridge (by adjusting the look and feel), can help you focus on the task at hand, and make it easier
to find the right images when needed. Before starting, you will make sure that you are in the default view
for Adobe Bridge.

Make sure you are in the Essentials workspace by selecting the Essentials button located in the upper-
right area of the Bridge workspace. In this view, you see standard thumbnails and panels that include:

Favorites
: your standard system favorites appear here, such as your Computer, Documents, Pictures
and more. You can also add your own folders here to make them easily accessible.

Folders
: represents your directory system and all the folders that it contains.
•
Filter
: allows you to filter the images you see in the content frame based on file type, keywords,
date created, camera settings, and more.
